Adding a Business to the interVal Platform
Adding a Business
When adding a business to the interVal platform, advisors will always be the ones to set up the business profile.
You have two options for adding financial data for the business to the interVal platform. You can either provide the financials yourself, or request that they are uploaded from your client or a third party.
Providing Financials (Advisor)
1. From the Dashboard tab, click the purple Add Business button.
2. Provide Business Details about the company for their profile.
Directly below the business details, Select the Industry for the business. Industry information that you submit will be used in the valuation calculation, and to provide accurate industry benchmarking.
Next, agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy on behalf of your business owner client and click Continue.
Adding Financials (Manual Files)
1. To upload manual files, click Yes, I have access to this data.
The platform can accept three different types of reports:
- Year-end financial statements (PDF)
- Trial Balance reports (XLS or CSV)
- 5-year Trial Balance Caseware export (XLS)
Ensure you have downloaded/saved the file(s) on to your computer before proceeding.
The platform can produce an analysis with as little as 1 fiscal year of data. However, we recommend providing 3-5 fiscal years where available so the algorithm can provide a more accurate assessment.
2. When you have the files ready click the Upload Files button. Click and drag the files into the upload window, or select the Upload button to choose the files from your computer.
3. Once the files appear in the list, click Continue.
With the manual option, the analysis will be available within two business days. You will receive an email from the interVal team when the dashboard is ready for you to review.
Adding Financials (Cloud Connection)
To connect to your client’s cloud accounting program, you must have administrator or accountant access to their QBO, Xero, or Sage cloud accounting.
1. Select the appropriate accounting program.
2. Enter the credentials to authenticate the connection. This allows the interVal platform to communicate with the accounting program to pull the necessary financial data.
In many cases, the valuation result will be immediately available. However, if the data has been flagged for additional review, the platform will display a message. In these cases, someone from the interVal team will reach out to you within two business days when the analysis is available.
Providing Financials (Client or Third Party)
1. If you do not have the client’s financials and need to send a request to your client or another third party to upload the financial data, click No, someone else will need to add this data.
2.Enter the name and email address of your client or the third party who will be providing the
data. When all the information has been provided, click the Continue button.
3. The recipient will receive an email from interVal on your behalf, requesting them to upload the necessary financial data.
This does not invite the recipient to the platform or perform a full analysis. Once the financials are provided, you will receive an email from interVal letting you know the analysis will be available within two business days.
