What type of financial data does the platform accept?

Cloud Accounting Users, Desktop Accounting Users

The interVal platform has a variety of options available for providing financial data, so you can choose the one that's easiest for you.

Cloud Accounting Users

If you use select cloud accounting programs, the interVal platform can connect directly to your accounting provider to gather the data it needs for analysis.

Supported cloud accounting programs include Quickbooks Online, Xero, and Sage Cloud*

* Sage has a variety of products, some of which do daily backups to the cloud. Our integration will work only on Sage products where you log in via a web browser, and not a desktop icon/application.

To initiate the connection, you will be prompted during onboarding to select your provider and enter your accounting program credentials to authorize your accounting program to share the necessary data with the interVal platform to complete the analysis.

Check out our helpdesk article to see how the connection works.

Desktop Accounting Users

If you don't yet use cloud accounting, no problem! We have a couple of different options available for financial data uploads.

Trial Balance Reports

Your desktop accounting program will have an area called Reports or Reporting Centre or similar. This is where you find common accounting reports like your Balance Sheet, Income Statement/Profit & Loss, etc.

In this section, you will also find a Trial Balance - a common accounting report that consolidates all of the company's ledgers and presents them in one report.

To run a report, set the start date and end date to align with your fiscal year. Run the report, and export it to either a XLS or CSV format. Once the file is saved onto your desktop, you will be able to click and drag it into the interVal platform during the onboarding process.

You can export up to 5 years of data (1 fiscal year = 1 report) for upload.

Year-End Financial Statements

If you aren't comfortable running reports from your internal accounting system, your other option is to upload your year-end Financial Statements that are provided to you by your accountant. This file is typically in a PDF format and can be uploaded into the platform during the onboarding process.

You can upload up to 5 years of year-end statements for analysis.

The interVal platform can analyze up to five (5) years of data. Having more than one year available means the platform can analyze things like historical trends and year-over-year performance, resulting in a more accurate valuation. We encourage users to upload 3-5 years when possible.
